Editorial Policy
CampCraftGuide exists to help readers make better decisions before they sleep, cook, hike, or travel outside. Our editorial policy explains how we choose topics, check advice, handle updates, and keep reader safety ahead of easy answers.
What We Publish
We publish camping and outdoor guidance that helps readers plan trips, choose gear, build practical skills, and avoid common mistakes. We prioritize clear field usefulness over novelty, and we avoid advice that depends on perfect conditions without saying so.
How content is researched and sourced
Our guides draw from hands-on camping experience, manufacturer documentation, public land and campground guidance, weather-aware planning practices, and reputable outdoor safety resources. When a recommendation depends on climate, terrain, group size, skill level, or local rules, we aim to make that condition clear.
Field-testing and review methodology
Before publication, pages are reviewed for practical accuracy, reader safety, clarity, and completeness. We check that instructions are realistic for the intended reader, that gear guidance explains tradeoffs, and that destination or rule-based advice does not present changing details as permanent facts.
Corrections and updates
Outdoor guidance can change when products are redesigned, land managers update rules, access changes, or better safety practices emerge. We review and update pages when we find outdated details, receive a credible correction, or identify missing context that could affect a reader's decision.
Readers can send corrections through our contact page. Correction requests get priority because inaccurate outdoor advice can waste money, damage a trip, or create avoidable safety risks.
Editorial independence and disclosures
CampCraftGuide may publish pages that mention products, services, or affiliate relationships. Those relationships do not decide our editorial conclusions. We try to explain who a product or recommendation is for, when it may be a poor fit, and which tradeoffs matter before purchase.
Reader Safety
Camping advice is never a substitute for local regulations, current weather alerts, wildfire restrictions, medical guidance, or the judgment of qualified outdoor leaders. When conditions are uncertain, readers should choose the safer option and verify current information with the relevant land manager or official source.
